February is heart month! And what better way to appreciate your heart than to look after your body, mind and spirit; all connected to your heart in one way or another.
Chinweoke talks about getting enough sleep. There are many studies available that discuss the benefits of getting enough sleep and how that affects work, family and your day to day duties. Sometimes we sacrifice our sleep to create more time so we can accomplish everything we need to do. Chinweoke shares with us some good tips to try to get the sleep that we all need.
Kristy touches us all with her advice about moving to take care of our heart. She provides two great links to check out.
Cooking for me is all about love! Yes, it is corny, but I love to cook and bake. I love to cook for my family and guests who come into my home. I met this wonderful women, she is a great chef and instructor. She told me to always cook with your heart and never when you are mad as it will taint your dish and poison your guests. That was many years ago and I have never forgotten it. Canola oil works great when cooking for your heart. It has the lowest saturated fat of any vegetable oil, high in monounsaturated fat and has Omega-3s, a good choice for cooking and baking.
February is also a great time to cheer on our Olympic athletes. The Vancouver 2010 Olympics opens February 12, 2010. Go to http://www.vancouver2010.com/ for all the information. To celebrate our hearts and to give good cheer to our Canadian athletes and Paralympics athletes we have 4 wonderful winning recipes to share with you this month.
All are easy and great to make while watching the Olympics. The Manitoba Canola Growers are honoured to have worked with the Canadian Paralympics Committee and the athletes that are going for Gold in the 2010 Olympics. For more information, go to http://www.paralympic.ca/en/News.html
